Summerwood is the residential neighbourhood southwest of the intersection of Highway 16 (Yellowhead Trail) and Highway 21 within the northeast portion of Sherwood Park. Its Area Structure Plan (ASP) encompasses approximately hectares of 177.25 land.  

Summerwood provides a variety of housing opportunities, commercial services and natural features.

Summerwood also offers: 

  • recreational opportunities such as playgrounds, parks, and a community garden
  • integrated natural urban forest areas
  • natural habitat conservation areas
  • connections between neighbourhoods with a combination of safe roads, a network of sidewalks and trails

The Summerwood ASP is divided into two major development areas.  

  1. Summerwood South: Is comprised of a combination of low density residential to the east with medium density and commercial development to the west. This area also integrates natural urban forests, neighbourhood parks and walking trails.  
     
  2. Summerwood North: is comprised of a combination of single detached, semi-detached and town-housing building types. Summerwood North is an extension of Summerwood South and promotes natural habitat conservation with intact trees and wetlands
