Project history:

On December 30th 2009, Sgt. George Miok and Cpl. Zachery McCormack, two young men from Sherwood Park, lost their lives while in the service of their country in Kandahar Afghanistan. The loss of these two men shocked and saddened the entire community. This prompted a local resident to partner with Strathcona County through the Community Partnership Process to erect a memorial in their honour. This project is now complete.

The location of this memorial is adjacent to Broadmoor Lake and the existing Peace Park.
