Recruitment information day

This is your chance to get up close with firefighter/paramedics, recruiters, equipment and experience some of the physical activities you will be required to do during the physical exam.

Each session is approximately 60 minutes and includes:

• a presentation where you learn about the process, the department and have the opportunity to ask questions 

• various stations will be set up putting participants through different physical activities in bunker gear.

  • Participants are asked to wear workout attire and bring boots (steel toed are preferred) and gloves.

  • You must be over 18 years of age to participate in physical activities. 

• EMS station with SIMs and you can ask questions about the medical knowledge and scenario testing. 

• various info booths on our specialty teams and wellness programs. 

• a tour of Fire Station 6. 

This event is for those who are serious about a career with Strathcona County Emergency Services now, or in the future. Participants should be currently enrolled or planning to be enrolled in a paramedic or EMT program.

Panel discussion

Join us at 12 noon for a panel discussion with a Deputy Chief, Human Resources Talent Aquisition, IAFF Local 2461 representative and one of our probationary members of the department. This will be a great opportunity to complement the other recruitment sessions to ask further questions, get different perspectives and tips on how to prepare for the process.

Virtual information session

Ride along program

This program is available to those that are paramedics or are currently enrolled in a paramedic or EMR program. Complete the Ride Along Observer Program form (82.2 KB) , scan and email it to Community Safety.
