Marketing Alberta Award 2012

Strathcona County was recognized at the 2012 Economic Developers Alberta Awards of Excellence. The Strathcona County Traveller brochure - created in partnership with Travel Alberta - won the EDA Marketing Alberta Award in the Creative Innovations category (large community). The annual awards ceremony took place on April 12, 2012 during the Minister’s Dinner and Awards Banquet.

Economic Developers Alberta - Alex Metcalf Award April 18, 2011

Project: Shell Scotford Upgrader Expansion One
Large Community 50,000+

Strathcona County was one of the winners at the 2011 Economic Developers Alberta (EDA) Awards of Excellence. The County received the Alex Metcalf Award in the Large Community category (population 50,000+) for the Shell Scotford Upgrader Expansion One project.

International Economic Development Council - Honorable Mention
With Alberta's Industrial Heartland Association
October 2007

EDT was recognized by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) with an Honorable Mention for the Alberta's Industrial Heartland project in the Multi-Year Economic Development Program.

Economic Developers Alberta - Alex Metcalf Award
October 2006

Large Community 50,000+

Strathcona County received the Alex Metcalf Award for efforts in siting Costco to the community.

Economic Developers Alberta - "Best General Purpose Brochure"
October 2006

Economic Developers Alberta recognized Visit the Country program with the “Best General Purpose Brochure” award at the EDA Annual Conference.

Minister's Award for Municipal Excellence
Partnership Category (with Sturgeon County)
September 2004

Strathcona County and Sturgeon County partnered in an Agricultural Tourism Product Development program. The initiative resulted in Sturgeon County's Country Soul Stroll, Strathcona County's Fur and Feathers Farm Tour and Harvest Festival of Foods, Edmonton region's Country Christmas retreat packages, and Visit the Country Guide and website. The review committee felt this practice demonstrated excellence and will be beneficial to local governments in Alberta.

Canadian Institute of Planners - Award of Excellence 
With Alberta's Industrial Heartland Association
September 2002

The Alberta Industrial Heartland Assocation team received the 2001 - 2002 Award of Excellence from the Canadian Institute of Planners. The team received the award for its use of eco-industrial principles, its public consultation process and for inter-municipal collaboration.

Municipal Affairs Minister's Outstanding Achievement Award for Municipal Excellence
With Aberta's Industrial Heartland Associaion
September 2002

The Government of Alberta announced the Alberta's Industrial Heartland Association as the first recipient of the Municipal Affairs Minister's Outstanding Achievement Award for Municipal Excellence. In addition, the AIHA also received Honourable Mention in the Partnership Category for its first major undertaking, a comprehensive process that resulted in the Area Structure Plans for four communities. The four partners involved are the City of Fort Saskatchewan, Sturgeon County, Lamont County and Strathcona County.
