Information and hours of operation

Strathcona County spray parks are available starting in May each year, with select spray decks opening by July 1 (weather permitting). Spray parks and decks remain open until September. See the list below for information on locations and hours.

Spray park locations and hours

  • ArrKann Spray Park (Spring to September Labour Day weekend)
    Located behind the Ardrossan Recreation Complex at 80-1 Avenue, Ardrossan. View map.

    This spray park and playground is located in the Ardrossan Regional Park and features a recirculating water system that collects, treats, and reuses the water. 

    Hours of operation

    • 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. when it's 20°C or warmer

    Washroom and change facilities

    • Washrooms and change facilities are available inside the Ardrossan Recreation Complex.
    • Infants and toddlers must wear swim diapers in the water areas. Forgot one? You can purchase a swim diaper at the Ardrossan Recreation Complex. 
    • Please use the showers on the red barn and rinse your feet prior to using the water features.

    Pets

    • We encourage you to please leave your pets at home while visiting the spray park. Pets are required to be on leash and may not enter the spray park or playground.

  • RE/MAX Spray Park (Spring to September Labour Day weekend) is located at 2015 Oak Street View map.

    • The spray park and playground at Broadmoor Lake Park features innovative play structures for children all the way up to 15 years old. 

    All play equipment in Strathcona County playgrounds meets all Canadian Standards Association guidelines, and in some cases, exceeds the guidelines. All equipment is inspected regularly and maintained appropriately.

    • Washrooms are available at the Sherwood Park Arena (North of spray park).
    • Infants and toddlers must wear swim diapers in the water areas. Forgot one? We have swim diapers for sale at the Kinsmen Leisure Centre.
    • Please shower and rinse your feet prior to using the water features. The shower is located at the east end of the spray park.

    • The spray features are operated by the staff at the Kinsmen Leisure Centre.

    Are pets permitted in the spray deck?

    • We encourage you to please leave your pets at home while visiting the spray deck. Pets are required to be on leash.

    Is there an age restriction?

    • No, all ages and families are welcome. We do have recommended ages for certain pieces of equipment, please refer to the signage on site for these recommendations.

    Is this spray deck staffed?

    • Yes, there is an attendant on-duty during normal operating hours. Parents are still asked to please watch and supervise their children.

    Facility Accessibility

    • The park is both environmentally friendly and wheelchair accessible, and the playground includes a special needs swing.

    Fun Facts!

    • The spray park runs a recirculating water system that collects, treats and reuses the water. 
    • 13,000 recycled tires were used for the soft surface area.

    The water features are turned on by the pressing button located on the yellow post on the north edge of the park. 

    The water features are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, regardless of the temperature. The new spray deck, with 14 fun spray features, was designed to complement existing play features in the park and includes solar panels that will be used to power it. The spray deck includes a portable washroom, shading, seating, and a rubberized non-slip surface.

    The spray deck is monitored for cleanliness and maintenance, but it is not staffed. Parents are asked to please watch their children.

  • Summerton Spray Deck (June to September, weather-dependent) is located at 11 Summerfield Wynd (Summerfield Wynd and Summerland Way.) View map.

    To turn on the water, push the button on the pink post, on the north side of the spray deck (furthest from the playground). (The Summerton Spray Deck does not require a volunteer to be turned on.)

    The water features are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, regardless of the temperature. The spray deck is open during the summer months and remains open in the fall weather permitting. The park includes a playground and spray deck with 13 water features.

  • Clover Bar Ranch Park (June to September, weather-dependent) is located at 875 Jim Common Drive North (Jim Common Drive North and Canyon Drive.) View map.

    The Clover Bar Ranch Spray Deck does not require a volunteer to be turned on. To turn on the water, push the button on the blue post on the north side of the spray deck (closest to the playground).

    The water features are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, regardless of the temperature. The spray deck is open during the summer months and remains open in the fall weather permitting. The park includes a playground, sports field and spray deck with 12 water features.

    Are there washrooms and change facilities?

    Yes, washroom facilities are on site seasonally.

  • July to September, weather-dependent (Monday to Friday)

    Granville Spray Deck is open on days when the temperature is at least 20°C, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. It is located on Glamorgan Drive East (in Lollypop Park near Glen Allan School). Accessible from Granville Crescent or Glamorgan Drive.

  • Closed until further notice

    Kinsmen / Westboro Spray Deck is open on days when the temperature is at least 20°C, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. It is located on Strathcona Drive S (West of Broadmoor Boulevard, at the Strathcona Drive and Keith Road intersection).

    Due to Alberta Health Services regulations, spray decks will be turned on and off by Strathcona County operations staff.

  • July to September, weather-dependent (Monday to Friday)

    Woodbridge Spray Deck is open on days when the temperature is at least 20°C, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. It is located on the West side of Woodbridge Way (between Parker Drive and Wells Point Lane).

  • July to September, weather-dependent (Monday to Friday)

    Brentwood Spray Deck is open on days when the temperature is at least 20°C, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. It is located on the Brentwood School grounds, on Falcon Drive between Greenwood Way and Lark Street.

Water restriction or ban

When a Strathcona County water restriction is announced, the use of non-essential water needs to be reduced. The RE/MAX Spray Park and Playground in Broadmoor Lake Park and the ArrKann Spray Park in Ardrossan Regional Park will remain open as the water recirculates, however all other spray decks where the water fully drains will be closed.

When a Strathcona County water ban is announced, the use of non-essential water needs to be discontinued, and all outdoor water use is prohibited. All spray decks and spray parks will be closed, including the RE/MAX Spray Park and Playground in Broadmoor Lake Park and the ArrKann Spray Park in Ardrossan Regional Park.

Accessible water wheelchair

An elongated black and blue wheelchair with two side wheels and a larger, rounded front wheel in the shape of a ball.

An all-terrain, accessible water wheelchair is available for use at certain spray parks. It is designed for children/youth who have physical disabilities in order to support access to water-based recreation activities. It is available on a first-come, first-serve basis and cannot be booked in advance. There is no cost for using the wheelchair.

The wheelchair is available at specific spray park locations throughout the summer months.

More about the aquatics wheelchair:

  • The brand name of the wheelchair is called Hippocampe, and you may also hear it lovingly referred to as "The Sea Horse".
  • The wheelchair is designed for the outdoors, can handle rougher terrain, and can get soaking wet in our spray parks.

Wheelchair guidelines:

  • The wheelchair is designed for younger individuals between 4'7 and 5'7 in height, with a maximum weight of 285 pounds. A harness is available for users below 4'7 in height.
  • Adults with physical disabilities are welcome to use the wheelchair as long as they are within the size restrictions.
  • Wheelchair users require a care giver to be present for the duration of use.
  • Spray park attendants are able to help patrons on and off the wheelchair at the guidance of a care giver, however staff are not responsible for safely leading this process.
  • A specialty changeroom is available (Kinsmen Leisure Centre only)
