Mayor’s Award

Roman Lozowy
Roman Lozowy has a unique ability to engage with people. He is appreciated by co-workers at Home Depot, but spends countless hours volunteering with local organizations including the Sherwood Park Crusaders hockey team, Silver Birch Lodge and Dreamcatcher Nature Assisted Therapy ranch. Roman also competes in floor hockey and bowling in the Special Olympics. Strathcona County is a better place because of Roman’s ability to break down barriers and make a lasting, positive impact on everyone he meets.

Agricultural Leadership

Codiak Acres
Over 27 years, Gary and Nancy Kiziak have expertly grown their business and gained international acclaim. Award-winning Speckle Park cattle breeders and exporters, they are role models and strong supporters of the agricultural industry.

Kelsey Knott
Kelsey Knott has excelled as chair of the Josephburg Agricultural Society’s Classic and as an exhibitor at Farmfair International. She is a well-respected ambassador for the cattle industry, whether hosting international buyers or as part of a trade mission to Scotland.

Arts, Culture and Heritage

Ken Hawtin
Ken Hawtin is a talented craftsman who pushes the boundaries of woodturning both technically and conceptually. His work is exhibited across Alberta and in the United States, and here at home, Ken is a valued art gallery member and volunteer.

Vincent Roper
As an artist, instructor and active gallery member, Vincent Roper is an advocate for visual arts and the value it brings to our community. Vincent’s paintings are not only beautiful and technically proficient, they evoke a sense of place that is specific to Strathcona County.

Community Service

Lyn Lepps
Lyn Lepps has been known as “Coach” to generations of local swimmers. Ever since the Lepps founded the Silvertide Swim Club in 1987, Lyn has made a difference, both in and out of the pool, for young swimmers, their parents and coaches.

Janelle Orr
With strong commitment and leadership, Janelle Orr has ensured the success of the Sherwood Park Music Festival. This event allows young musicians to grow in their discipline and nurture a love for performing arts, and propels them on to higher competition.

Economic Diversification

Innovative Mortgage Solutions
Michael Wharmby founded Innovative Mortgage Solutions in 2006 and has watched it grow into a successful business. The company has helped hundreds of families purchase homes in Strathcona County, contributing to the County’s economic growth and development.

Heroism and Leadership

Rosella Bjornson
As the first female commercial airline captain and jet pilot, Rosella Bjornson paved the way for women in aviation. Following a distinguished career, Rosella continues to be involved at the local and national levels as a volunteer and mentor.

Outstanding Group

Van-Es Camp and Conference Centre
For 50 years, the Van-Es Camp and Conference Centre has provided a haven of rest and recreation. The complex offers something for all stages of life, whether for summer camp, weddings, professional development or other community-building events.

Service to Seniors

Dorothy Emerson
A long-standing board member of the Sherwood Park 55+ Club, Dorothy Emerson organizes events that allow seniors to remain active. Providing transportation and visiting those who can’t leave their home are some of the other ways she creates a safe and friendly community for seniors.
